The divine destiny of Man, the one who thinks, is that of planetary light-bearer. Within every atom of a human’s physical body is found a point of light and each human soul is itself a body of light. Throughout our long evolutionary journey, our entire career is concerned with light; the acquisition of light, and the individual and collective weaving of light into the etheric structure of the planet.

While the Hierarchy embodies the centre of love for our planetary Life, and Shamballa embodies its centre of will, the destiny of humanity is to become the planetary light-bearer, the centre of light or active intelligence, for our planetary Life. The intellect—always symbolised as light—distinguishes man from the lower kingdoms in nature and also gives man the capacity to connect with the higher, more purely spiritual kingdoms in nature. Standing midway between matter and divinity, man is in a unique position to fuse spirit and matter, or soul and personality, and in achieving this fusion of opposites, man redeems matter for light.

The esotericist knows that birth into physical incarnation is birth into darkness, and yet the experiences of incarnation lead eventually to a birth into light—a second birth, or initiation, into a world of light, love and life more abundant. Each human being moves forward into this light and love by way of the light of intelligence, knowledge, understanding, wisdom and experience, and eventually succeeds in fusing personality and soul by creating a bridge of light between the two, producing in turn an externalised body of light.

For the majority today, the light-body is but inchoate and diffused and simply hovers over the physical body, waiting for an opportunity to enter and irradiate consciousness. But, when the sons of men as a group are able to construct lightbodies, embedded and functioning in the physical body—as a result of intelligent mental work—it will bring about an integration of light in the substance of the planet itself, which is lacking at this time. Humanity thus weaves light into the etheric structure of the planet.

This is the process of creating the future world of light and this is the objective for humanity as it enters the new age; to create in the light, through the intentional activity of the light-body. Using knowledge, wisdom and understanding, esoterically we transmit light and bridge the chasm between spirit and matter.
