Ocurrió un suceso significativo en los cielos durante el periodo de la Cumbre del Desarrollo Sostenible en las oficinas centrales de las NU en Nueva York.  La luna llena (con el sol en Libra) fue tarde en la noche del domingo, el último día de la Cumbre.  Y no fue simplemente una luna llena cualquiera --- popularmente llamada una “Superluna” la luna estaba especialmente cerca de la Tierra , por  tanto aparecía mucho mayor de lo normal en el cielo nocturno.  Y hubo un eclipse lunar total produciendo un efecto rojo en la luna.  Ha habido sólo 4  eclipses totales durante una superluna desde 1900 — por tanto  este fue un suceso astronómico inusual.  No debería sorprendernos que un alineamiento significativo en los cielos fue acompañado por tan significativa reunión en las NU.

Desde la perspectiva de la sabiduría perenne la humanidad esta en proceso de pasar de una cultura caracterizada por Piscis — una cultura de separación y devoción a un ideal — hacia una cultura caracterizada por Acuario con notas clave de  unidad y  de compartir.

Hasta ahora el desafío de encarnar la totalidad ha sido esencialmente una lucha encabezada por individuos pioneros y movimientos alternativos marginales. Pero ahora estamos entrando en una época en la que los sistemas y las  estructuras de la sociedad y de la ley se enfrentan conscientemente a los desafíos de Acuario - y lo hacen desde el modo de actuar de Libra.

Can Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), persuade world leaders at the December 2015 Climate Summit in Paris to adopt a legally binding and universal agreement on climate, with the aim of keeping global warming below 2°C?

La comunidad de ONG, incluido un representante de Buena Voluntad Mundial, se reunió en la ONU el 13 de agosto para analizar conjuntamente tanto el proceso como el resultado de trabajar en los 17 Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible.

La reunión se centró en la naturaleza y calidad de la defensa de la sociedad civil y en los mecanismos necesarios para apoyar los nuevos objetivos.

On Thursday, 30 July 2015, just hours before governments began their final negotiations on a Transformative Agenda for Sustainable Development, World Goodwill was represented at a side event, “Preparing for the implementation phase of the post-2015 development agenda.”

There was a visionary air to the gathering. 

The Ambassador of South Africa, H.E. Mr. Jeremiah N. Kingsley Mamabolo, emphasized that goodwill must be ensured in order for the goals to be implemented. 

All of humanity needs to own the goals, he said, “all hands on deck,” and we all need to feel accountable.  He envisioned accountability being strengthened by systemic intergovernmental support, and defined good governance as the responsibility of governments to people and as being at the root of implementation.

On Friday, 24 July, World Goodwill was represented at a side-event of the post-2015 development planning on the Human Rights of Women and Girls.  The focus was on the Global South regional perspectives from Asia, Africa and the Middle East. 

There were three main points that were emphasized from all regions.

1)   In many cases, the laws have been written and put in place in addressing issues of violence against women and girls, but the laws are not enforced. 

2)   Although goal #5 is “achieve gender equality and empower all [11183468_1743933142500155_2659331470972016041_n] women and girls,” it was the general consensus that violence against women and girls had much to do with other goals as well.  Specifically, the goals to end poverty, improve health, and ensure education were viewed as an integral part of gender equality.

3)   There was unanimous agreement that the means of implementation be included in the outcome document for the UN Summit to adopt the Post-2015 Development Agenda in September.
