The Creative Power of DISILLUSIONMENT

Today illusion is so potent, that few people whose minds are in any way developed are not controlled by vast illusory thoughtforms, which have their roots and draw their life from the lower personality life and desire nature of humanity... these thoughtforms draw their vitality also from the realm of Ideas, but of Ideas wrongly intuited and grasped and forced to serve selfish purposes.

One of the things which the developed intuition can do is to break the glamour and illusion which invade the life.

An afternoon of talks, discussion and meditation on how to dispel the illusions that hold individuals and societies in thrall.

18th November 2006, 1.30 - 5.15pm

Thistle Hotel Victoria, 101 Buckingham Palace Road, London SW1W 0SJ
Guest Speakers:

  • John Lane – Freedom to WorshipJohn Lane is the arts editor of Resurgence. He is a painter, writer and educator, and has authored a number of books, including Timeless Simplicity, The Living Tree: Art and the Sacred, A Snake’s Tail Full of Ants, and The Spirit of Silence.

He will be discussing the importance of freeing oneself to see things as they are and worship them as they are, and not through the potentially constraining lenses of an ideology or -ism.

  • David Boyle – Dispelling the Hype: The Quest for AuthenticityDavid Boyle is an associate of the new economics foundation. He is also the founder of the London Time Bank network and co-founder of Time Banks UK. He writes about the future of volunteering, cities and business. He currently edits Radical Economics, and has written for many national newspapers and magazines.

He will explore how the quest for authenticity in everyday life comes in part from a spiritual crisis, and consider just what the authentic, real thing is that people are trying to re-connect with, something that cannot be adequately captured by numbers and statistics. One name for it might be soul.
