Occult Love and the Violet Force

Tonight we are celebrating the Christ’s Festival in Gemini and the culmination of the higher interlude of the spiritual year. Since 1952 the day of the Gemini full moon is also celebrated as World Invocation Day when a focus is placed on the Great Invocation to empower humanity’s subconscious appeal for the return of a World Saviour. This full moon is also known as the Festival of Humanity for it celebrates the nascent Christ principle that flickers in every human heart – and it always falls in the sign of Gemini whose “force…produces the changes needed for the evolution of the Christ consciousness at any particular point in time and space.”

This latter point is an important one to consider for today’s world is radically different from that of two thousand years ago, and understanding the changes that are needed for the Christ consciousness to flourish in this era of mass communications and the internet is challenging. The omnipresent icon of Jesus Christ that Christianity has constantly energised down the ages makes the physical reappearance of the Christ even harder to imagine against the backdrop of this age of technology; and as time marches on, the more it seems distorted and disconnected from the needs of our times. It takes a strong effort of the will to detach oneself from religious portrayals of the Christ and to reconsider His reappearance from a fresh perspective. How could such a figure fit into the current world scenario in a way that wouldn’t induce hysteria and wild adulation? How could such a figure lead human consciousness forward into the realm of pure reason and intelligent love without over-stimulating the emotional nature of the masses which could easily be whipped up into a frenzy by the world press?

Before reflecting on some of these questions on the reappearance of the Christ, let’s take a moment’s silence and use the Great Invocation to seed our thinking:

From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.

From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.

May Christ return to Earth.
From the centre where the Will of God is known

Let purpose guide the little wills of men—
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.
From the centre which we call the race of men

Let the Plan of Love and Light work out.
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.
Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth

It’s clear that a new expression of love is required for today’s intelligent public, and perhaps, in an era where dynamic, electromagnetic forces are revolutionising the way human beings interact with one another, the expression of the Christ principle will take on an appropriate orientation; one that appeals to mentally focused people everywhere as well as world youth engrossed with electronic media and the high octave energy of popular culture. A dynamic is required that can orient the highly charged etheric body of humanity to a completely new understanding of love on mental levels, without the distortions of the astral plane.

The influence of Gemini fits well into this scenario as it relates the Christ principle to the etheric body, driving the evolving relationship between the two forward in time and space. The Love-Wisdom that pours through Gemini is adapted by the Spiritual Hierarchy on the buddhic plane, which is sometimes referred to as the plane of violet. From here the adapted energies are precipitated onto the etheric levels of the physical plane which are also characterised by a violet light due to their close association with the Buddhic realm. Because Gemini’s energy is so closely tied to the Christ principle and is descending through the violet planes, the violet angels or devas are predicted to become especially active when the Christ Himself appears. Their activities will include:

“Teaching humanity to see etherically, by heightening human vibration by interaction with their own. Instruction in the…efficiency of violet light in lessening human ills. Demonstrate the fact that the super-conscious world exists and that angels and men who are out of incarnation can be contacted and known. Teach humanity how rightly to feed the human body by drawing nourishment from the surrounding ethers. Concentrate man’s attention upon the etheric body so that the work and health of the physical body will become increasingly automatic. Teach humanity to expand consciousness to include the super-physical so that the separating web (the veil of the temple) which divides the physical plane from the unseen world will eventually be destroyed. The date is said to be imminent.”

With all this planned activity by the violet devas, it’s not surprising that even now violet light is playing a significant role in human enterprise. The place of violet in the spectrum is of prime importance in connection with the greater cycles, and marks the end of one cycle and the beginning of another. For this reason ultraviolet light has been instrumental in the inauguration of this new cycle of the information age, shifting humanity’s use of force from the material levels of the physical plane to the etheric; and if we take this as a symbol or portent of the times, we might conclude that the preparations for the reappearance are well underway already.

Because it has the ability to cause chemical reactions and excite fluorescence in materials, ultraviolet light has a huge number of useful applications in electronic communications as well as many areas of science and medicine. An interesting example is the integral part it plays in information processing. The minute circuitry for a computer chip is produced by a technique called photolithography. After the circuit pattern has been written, a mask is made of it – the equivalent of a photographic negative. A beam of ultraviolet light is then directed at the mask and through a lens, shrinking the pattern and focusing the light onto silicon wafer. Through this technique, the potential to process information is stamped into matter, and electricity, passing through the circuitry pattern on a silicon chip, is forced to perform ritualistic motion. While we often associate science and technology with the fifth ray of concrete mind, we should not forget the great seventh ray of ceremonial ritual and organisation, for machines of all kinds perform an ordered, repetitive dance – the rudiments of ceremony and ritual. And this applies particularly to the electric current running through the panoply of today’s electronic devices. It is the ritualistic motion of electricity that indicates humanity’s entrance into the New Age.

Apart from the wide use of ultraviolet light in micromachining and the production of microelectronic devices, it is also well absorbed by biological matter and organic compounds. Rather than burning or cutting material, the ultraviolet laser beam adds just the right amount of energy to disrupt the molecular bonds of the surface tissue and disintegrate it into the air through ablation rather than burning. These lasers can remove exceptionally fine layers of surface material with very little heating or change to the remainder of the material which makes them well suited to delicate operations such as eye surgery. Another development concerning the eye and vision are photochromic lenses that make glasses darken or lighten according to the amount of ultraviolet light that they receive from the sun. These are both interesting symbols of future developments for the human eye is rapidly evolving to become naturally sensitive to ultraviolet frequencies, and this will lead to etheric vision being commonplace in the relatively near future.

The Christ’s reappearance will no doubt stimulate this development as it is “the energy of Love in its dynamic or electric form” – “the Will aspect of Love which the Christ will of necessity use this time when He comes;” and this will play out on etheric levels causing changes in humanity’s etheric or vital body. Rather than emotion or sentimentality, we can expect a dynamic, ritualistic expression of love that has wilful direction. This will no doubt be facilitated by the violet ray working with the transmission and reception of electric force between the buddhic plane and the etheric levels of the physical plane. We can therefore expect a rapid transmutation of cultural life onto etheric levels in conjunction with the Christ’s reappearance.

Art and culture will start to rise in spirituality again, particularly after 2025 when the fourth ray of harmony that naturally governs the buddhic plane, begins a cycle of renewed activity and blends with the seventh ray of ceremonial magic on the physical plane. Interestingly, we can see evidence of the ritualistic, organisational power of the seventh ray in popular music in the form of repetitive, mantra like drumbeats, melodies, and accompanying dance forms, which often incorporate synchronised group movements of a staccato, machine like nature. As the astral body is reoriented towards the buddhic plane and love, we can anticipate new expressions of music, art and culture that are more in harmony with the motion of the heavenly spheres. Electricity already plays a big part in popular music through amplification and the invention of the electric guitar, synthesisers and the like; and as a higher polarisation of consciousness occurs, it will be utilised in new artistic endeavours, such as the building of architectural structures on the etheric planes that radiate dynamic, electric colour, emit subtle sound and harmonies, and radiate the qualities of the Christ or buddhic nature.

Colour is, in essence, the buddhic manifestation of electricity, and the projection of love and pure reason through a focussed mind produces colourful, electric phenomena on the etheric planes. As etheric vision increases, a growing percentage of humanity will be able to see these etheric, thought structures; their production will be the work of initiates who have an open third eye and are intelligently directing ideas from the buddhic to the etheric planes through an act of will. The third eye opens as the soul’s energy engages with the human brain; it sets up a force field between the pineal gland and the pituitary gland, between which an etheric eye is formed. It is an eye of vision that is capable of looking deep within to the buddhic plane – the plane of the intuition and ideas. By switching its focus from inwards to outwards, the third eye then becomes a director of energies, building thought forms and driving them to their appointed tasks in the etheric realms where they radiate fiery sound and colour in acts of redemptive service. As the eye opens in advanced disciples and they learn to work in this way, many of the mysteries alluded to in various esoteric texts down the ages will stand revealed. 4

All these developments are not as far away as they may at first seem, for they are a natural corollary of the intensification of the light that has been occurring on earth since the time when humanity discovered the uses of electricity. The Tibetan comments that “the electrification of the planet through the wide-spread use of electricity is one of the things which is inaugurating the new age, and which will aid in bringing about the revelation of the presence of the soul. Before long this intensification will become so great that it will materially assist in the rending of the veil which separates the astral plane from the physical plane; the dividing etheric web will shortly be dissipated, and this will permit a more rapid inflow of the third aspect of light. The light from the astral plane (a starry radiance) and the light of the planet itself will be more closely blended, and the result upon humanity and upon the three other kingdoms in nature cannot be over-emphasized. It will, for one thing, profoundly affect the human eye and make the present sporadic etheric vision a universal asset. It will bring within the radius of our range of contact the infra-red and ultra-violet gamut of colours, and we shall see what at present is hidden. All this will tend to destroy the platform upon which the materialists stand, and to pave the way, first, for the admission of the soul as a sound hypothesis, and secondly, for the demonstration of its existence. We only need more light, in the esoteric sense, in order to see the soul, and that light will shortly be available and we shall understand the meaning of the words, ‘And in Thy light shall we see light.’"

As the rents in the planetary veils proceed and the etheric levels start to reveal themselves, it is interesting that many demonstrations of electric colour are now being observed in the form of atmospheric phenomena. To focus on just one, there are what are known generically as ‘transient luminous events’ taking place high in the atmosphere above thunderstorms. They include what are termed Sprites, elves and blue jets – huge discharges of electric red and blue flame flashing into appearance in various shapes 40 to 100 kilometres high in the atmosphere. Even more mysterious, high atmospheric discharges associated with lightning and thunderstorms are known as gnomes, trolls, pixies, blue starters and upward superbolts! It is interesting that so many of these phenomena have been ascribed names that we associate with the elemental lives of ancient myths and folk tales, for lives they certainly are, but controlled and guided by devas on the upward arc of evolution. Scientists naturally presume these phenomena have always been occurring but not noticed. However, it’s more likely that the planetary veils are now so thin that electrical work carried out by the deva kingdom is tearing them asunder in bursts of colourful electric phenomena.

We can see from all this that we live in incredible times – the ethers are alive with activity – the Internet being the symbol of the integration process taking place all over the planet through the light produced by the interrelation of etheric and physical force. It is a direct symbol of the success of the first stanza of the Great Invocation, “Let Light descend on Earth”. And the vital role light plays in our daily lives is being highlighted next year by the United Nations which has designated 2015 as “The International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies.” In the UN’s promotional literature we read “Light has revolutionized medicine, opened up international communication via the Internet, and continues to be central to linking cultural, economic and political aspects of the global society. For centuries light has transcended all boundaries, including geographic, gender, age, culture and race, and is a tremendous subject to motivate education. The worlds of science, engineering and the arts are set to come together in a year-long celebration of optics and photonics. It will focus on the science and applications of light, and seek to raise global awareness of how optics and photonics can have a positive impact in fields as diverse as energy, education, agriculture and health.” 5

World Goodwill will be working to seed the UN Year of Light and Light-based Technologies at its three seminars in New York, Geneva and London this Autumn, as another step in preparing the way for the reappearance of the Christ – The Light of the World. The UN year of Light marks a period in human evolution when the heavens have opened and light is descending all around us, so beautifully symbolised by the all seeing eye of space telescopes that catch the light that emerges from the distant depths of the cosmos. The time has arrived for this to be paralleled by inner vision – etheric sight and the opening of the third eye. As the energy of love-wisdom dominates the vital or etheric body, the life-force rising to the centres above the diaphragm will naturally open up the inner cosmos of the intuition and archetypal ideas. The subsequent construction of beacons of sculptured light on the etheric planes will be an expression of occult love through the use of the violet force; it will become a synthesised effort towards a great planetary event concealed in the following ‘point of revelation’ that the Tibetan gives us for deep meditation:

"When the light of the seven Rays is blended with that of the seventh Ray, then light supernal can be known."

On this the Tibetan writes: “This event inevitably takes place in moments of planetary crisis, when the seventh ray is active and when the Sun is in Aquarius. Such a combination of relationships is being established now, and the objective of this combination is to bring about illumination and the establishment of order upon the Earth. The first indication of the possibility of the effectiveness of these divine proposals was the giving out of the New Invocation [The Great Invocation]; its potency was so great that right conditions had to be considered before its enunciation was possible. That was the first step in the planned precipitation of the ‘light supernal’; the second step will be the reappearance of the Great Lord, Who will act as the lens through which the light can be focussed and adapted to human need. Conditions are rapidly being brought about whereby this great event of light distribution will be possible…the initial steps will then be taken to create the ‘new heavens and the new earth’."

With this inspiring thought in mind, let us now go into meditation.
