New Moon Meeting

"STRENGTHENING THE HANDS OF THE NEW GROUP OF WORLD SERVERS"

Meditation is the primary form of service for those following a spiritual path. The new moon period follows upon the cycle of outbreathing in the rhythmic cycles of the breath; it is a time of pause wherein together we can establish a soul-mind-brain alignment.  During this period we work in thought to concretize the ideas and impressions received at the full moon period and the difficult process of translating them into practical plans. The effect of this meditative effort is to enhance the many ways in which the “power of the one Life” and the “love of the one soul” are working out through all true servers everywhere.

The meeting will be held in the library of our offices at 120 Wall St., 24th floor; it will include a brief talk on the theme, group discussion and meditation. Please call or email us prior to the meeting.  We can also register you automatically for each meeting if you let us know of your interest..

Theme: Harnessing the Power of the Group

Unity, peace and security will come through the recognition—intelligently assessed—of the evils which have led to the present world situation, and then through the taking of those wise, compassionate and understanding steps which will lead to the establishing of right human relations, to the substitution of cooperation for the present competitive system, and by the education of the masses in every land as to the nature of true goodwill and its hitherto unused potency (Problems of Humanity, page 171).

With the blossoming of group consciousness, we are challenged to work together to make courageous decisions that shape the future. Groups must work together more cooperatively to trail blaze bold, creative solutions in a rapidly changing world. Many organizations are striving to optimize group dynamics as a way to produce more efficient outcomes in the decision making process.  Staff at the UN is encouraged to take online courses like “Strategic Decision Making in the UN”, with the tag line, “There are no correct decisions, but only better ones.” How do we make better decisions in the groups we’re a part of? What are the “wise, compassionate and understanding steps” that must be taken toward group leadership?

How skillfully we work together in groups will shape the future. To open this new moon conversation we’ll consider the decision making process as it relates to groups. We’ll also explore the idea of leadership in relation to decision making, and how group consciousness may be shaping this role in a new way. The articles below will be referenced to seed the conversation, and we hope you’ll join us with your ideas and suggestions.

Question for reflection and discussion:
How can groups work together to maximize goodwill and make the best possible decisions for the greater good? Is there any evidence of organizations beginning to harness goodwill to bring about unity, peace and security in the world?
