A Pause for Reflection

The drama playing out over the United States Supreme Court nomination, which some of you may be following, highlights themes related to Libra--themes such as fairness, equality, the law, relationships, power and privilege.

These themes being raised are global in scope as everywhere old, entrenched forces are clashing with the new--under the influence of the seventh ray, an energy which powerfully conditions in the sign of Libra, holding out the possibility of an influx of spiritual will as the highest and lowest meet.  In Libra the over-arching theme is justice. Libra seeks fairness through the mental process of weighing and balancing the opposites. But much of what we are witnessing today in our world seems far from judicial in nature and rather highlights the need for an enlightened public opinion which thankfully at times is provided by the media and social media platforms.  For too long we have seen the rights of the privileged few dominating those of the struggling majority. And that is why this current pause in the debate being weighed in the States’ highest court is so important --an opportunity for reflection and for the establishing of a point of tension.

Everywhere today we see situations being brought to light as women, minorities, victims of police brutality, survivors of sexual abuse and gun violence, prisoners, cult members, teachers and fast food workers are speaking up, calling for a change of course.

We are moving through a period ruled by Libra, not only in the monthly cycle but more importantly in the 500 year cycle of transition governing the period between the ages.  The growing influence of Libra is aiding the shift towards the light for it resonates strongly with the Aquarian energies .

Standing in the middle ground is the place of power.  This ability to hold to the middle ground, the ability to stand, is of course related to the planet Saturn—a planet that rules powerfully under the influence of Libra. Saturn is the planet which increasingly comes to control the discipleship path through initial hard knocks but later through the control of the mind that leads to a growing steadiness of purpose and to no longer “travelling up and down the land” but rather by learning to stand and “onward move”.

The in-between space, the neutral zone between the conflicting forces, is the creative space.  In this space there is the opportunity for something new to emerge. It is the place where magic happens.  Sometimes within an intensely polarized situation a condition will arise which causes one side or the other to take action, often in desperation.  Such situations can lead to an opening, sometimes to a compromise, to a point where the voices of the other point of view can be heard. But sometimes it leads to the closing of a door and a separating wall.

Generally it is not found that such openings occur within the so-called peaceful moments in life, the moments of decorum and the same-old, same-old.  More often than not resolutions come as a result of the more “war-like” moments that, in turn, lead to a rising intensity and then a pause and the emergence of a new direction.  The tension in such moments is palpable as the balance swings back and forth--as if between the forces of darkness and the forces of light. The current works through the groups involved, through the differently polarized perspectives.

But these points of tension are not easy to navigate for we are not generally accustomed to living at these  high points of tension. But it is through tension, rightly handled, that we can evoke the spiritual will, aided by the subjective forces.  And it is only through the will aspect that these periods of pause can translate and lead to the eventual tipping of the balance towards the light.
