Someone wrote in to the Trust this week asking about the final phrase from the Great Invocation which speaks of the restoration of the Plan and what this means. We can all ponder such questions in the light of our own understanding and it’s important we do so for as the Invocation states, it is. Humanity’s destiny is to act as the bridge, the mediator, the means through which this Plan can work out. But the concept of restoring the Plan can be confusing. What does it mean? Does this phrase imply that there was a time when the Plan was working out? Does it mean it isn’t working out now?
The Plan is understood as a type of blueprint that is fluid and adapted to the shifting needs of humanity, nations, times and seasons. Yet underlying all these outer manifestations of the Plan in our world lies its underlying essence, held in the mind of the Great Logos or Being Who Ensouls our planet. He has held this Plan in his consciousness for aeons of time, ever since He came to embody the raw material of this planet millions of years ago. And He will continue to do so for aeons of time to come. The essence of the Plan is safe-guarded, held protected and meted out over long, long periods of time in response to the shifting consciousness of humanity
One description of the Plan given out to us describes it as being related to a subjective synthesis, a telepathic interplay that will eventually annihilate time. This definition confirms that it is ever-present, eternal, not subject to the limitations of human consciousness which tend to confine through the structures of time and space.
The Plan has been hinted at and tapped into by visionaries throughout time who have brought through a measure of its majesty through means of some form through which it can be presented to humanity. It is the task of such individuals to become builders, anchoring the divine ideas that are working out at any particular time in history. Today, because of the stage reached within human evolutionary development and the nature of the available energies, human responsiveness to the Plan is accelerating tremendously and as is being demonstrated through the sheer weight of public opinion and right human desire that are manifesting throughout the planet.
It’s said that the Invocation is the translation of seven symbols, seven ancient word forms that are found upon the inner planes of life. I’ve often thought that these seven word forms are contained or synthesized within the final line of the Invocation– working out through the words:
Let Light Love Power Restore Plan Earth
All the other lines or ideas contained within the Invocation are derived from or encapsulated within these seven words of power. And perhaps the word restore contains the entire intention underlying the giving out of the Great Invocation at this time, along with the word “Let” – an active verb, that makes the restoration possible. To restore is not the creation of something new but rather relates to uncovering or bringing to view, to life, that which has ever existed but which is not seen, being instead covered by the many swirling thoughtforms that permeate the lower planes of our system. This restorative work is not only concerned with the building of concrete forms but also with the subjective work within consciousness throughout all the many stages of evolutionary development through which the substance of the Plan is working out. We work as archeologists and those who undertake the delicate work of restoring great works of art. Our task it is to remove all the dirt, dust, and coverings that have accumulated over the centuries, and through this means help to reveal the pristine beauty that has for so long been obscured.
In order to contribute to this restoration work each of us, in our own lives, can seek to lessen our preoccupation with our little plans that too often take up too much space within our consciousness and instead subordinate them to this greater and larger Plan and find that aspect of its working out to which we can contribute. It appears that humanity is moving more rapidly in its ability to contribute to this restoration work. Much is being uncovered, much is being brought to light and this is so encouraging. We know that house-cleaning is a major prerequisite for the reappearance of the World Teacher and this house-cleaning, this removal of the dust and dirt is the work of restoring our institutions so that the rule of law, the founding principles upon which our nations were established, can be upheld and honored.
