Namibia: Credit Union Day Observed

Namibia: Credit Union Day Observed. On 21 October, International Credit Union Day, Credit Unions in Namibia and across the rest of the world came together to celebrate. Credit unions pool their members' assets to provide low-cost loans and other financial services in the interests of their members and not to earn shareholder profits. About 49 000 credit unions in 97 countries across the world serve no fewer than 183 million members, playing a vital role in the economic development and stability of the communities they serve.

On October 31, credit unions will join the United Nations and cooperatives worldwide to celebrate 2012 as the International Year of Cooperatives.
