Although we live in this physical world, all the while our soul, our true self, exists in a different state of reality, in a state of constant meditation–described in the teachings as meditation deep. And since our soul represents our true self, in one sense we can say in utter truthfulness that we, too, exist within that other, true reality and that the object of our lives is to become increasingly cognizant of this fact and to become increasingly porous so that the inner reality can express itself more fully through us within the midst of this material world. This is the dual life of the disciple.
