Two Aquarian Symbols

TWO AQUARIAN SYMBOLS and some of their inter-relationships

As you might remember in an earlier talk I gave on the genesis of the Triangles symbol from a geometric perspective, I superimposed the Triangles symbol onto the New Age symbol, both of which play roles within the Lucis Trust’s philosophical canon and teachings.

It seems a fertile marriage of these two mandala-like symbols, both of which aid the meditator in focussing his awareness at a still point in the centre of each symbol.

There are a number of interesting geometric relationships when viewing these two symbols in superimposition.

I will briefly recap what the different parts represent before bringing them together.

The Triangles symbol is composed of a series of intersecting equilateral triangles forming three 12 pointed stars each fitting in to the inner circumference of its larger brother. The measurement of their circumferences if taken as a number series is a Fibonacci series, i.e. 1 is to 2 is to 3 is to 5 ad infinitum.  A numerical property found extensively in Nature and relating to a special proportion called the Golden Mean in which the idea of Regeneration is key. A good example of this is expressed in the form of a spiralling Nautilus sea shell as it builds consecutive chambers in increasing sizes to form its form.

My interpretation of the meaning of this symbol is that each star represents an aspect of the God head or the Monad. The outer star representing the aspect of Light, the second or intermediate star representing the aspect of Love and the inner star representing the Divine Will.

The New Age symbol is essentially a diagram of the various constituent parts of the life of the Earth’s Planetary Logos and how it relates to the greater Cosmos through the star Sirius, the home of the Great Lodge, symbolised by the large white cross which lies back of the whole picture, embracing all elements.

The Golden disc represents the Will of God, Shamballa in the language of the Alice Bailey teachings and of Tibetan Buddhism, the yellow triangle represents the Spiritual Hierarchy of Masters and the blue pentacle star represents the highest level of consciousness Humanity as a unit can embody at this time.

The small white cross at the centre represents the equal armed cross of future Aquarian human activity where the vertical arm is our relationship to the Divine and the horizontal arm is our evolving harmonious relationships with one another.

There is balance here between these two modes of being and the Christ or Coming One, depending on your tradition, stands at the centre of this cross. He also stands as the connecting point or Axis of relationship between Humanity, Hierarchy and Shamballa.

First I would like to focus on the inter relationship between this inner cross of Discipleship in white and the intermediate 12 pointed star of Love in the Triangles symbol.

If the Discipleship cross is circumscribed within a circle, this circle intersects with the inner radius of this intermediary star of Love. Thus the inter relationship of these two symbols at its heart is founded on Love which is not a surprise as we live in a  solar system governed, in Alice Bailey’s words, by the 2nd ray of Love - Wisdom.

If we extend this heart relationship out to the periphery of the combined symbol by adding two more circles in all 4 directions we get this beautiful relationship with the large cross of Sirius which again fits in with our deep connection with the life of this Star as described in the Alice Bailey teachings.

If this ‘Heart’ circle is expanded so that it connects through the intersections of the blue 5 pointed pentacle star with the outer vertices of this intermediate 12 pointed star symbolically this circle therefore connects the highest ‘Consciousness’ aspect of Humanity with the ‘Love’ aspect of the Triangles symbol. If we now duplicate this central circle out four times in all 4 directions there is an interesting relationship between these 5 circles and the outer circle, ‘the disc of golden light’, which represents Shamballa, the Will aspect. Thus there is a sequence of Human Consciousness - Love - Will.

If we return to the first ‘Heart’ circle and look at its relationship to the concentric squares formed in the centre of each of the 3 triangles we see this interesting relationship of the ‘squaring of the circle’. Where the area of the circle and its associated square are visually equal although numerically the area of the circle can only be approximated and not known precisely as its value can only be ‘known' at a higher level of consciousness.

Looking again at the inner cross of Discipleship, with its circle and associated square overlapping it, we can see that this relationship of the square to the circle is a concise way of expressing the aspirant’s challenge of living on this planet.

The limits of the sphere or circle of Discipleship circumscribing the cross are beyond the limits of the square but the responsibilities of the earthly life as represented by the square have to be accommodated and lived with simultaneously thus showing the dual life of the serving disciple in the marriage of these two realities.

In conclusion, these geometric relationships and others that can be found between the Triangles and New Age symbols might be be best shown as an animated sequence in colour and music so that the beauty of them can go deeper into our minds and hearts.
