Meditation is the primary form of service for those following a spiritual path. It is a means of cooperation and alignment with hierarchical intent. The new moon period follows upon the cycle of out-breathing in the rhythmic cycles of the breath; it is a time of pause wherein together we can establish a soul-mind-brain alignment. During this period, we work in thought to concretize the ideas and impressions received at the time of the full moon period and undertake the sometimes difficult process of translating them into practical plans that can be of service in the world. The effect of this meditative effort is to enhance the many ways in which the “power of the one Life” and the “love of the one soul” are working out through all true servers everywhere. There will be no physical meeting. The Zoom audio broadcast will include an exploration of the theme Economic and Financial Responsibilities on the Path, followed by meditation. We are unfortunately unable to offer an opportunity for live discussion via Zoom chat on this broadcast.
Economic and Financial Responsibilities on the Path
In Discipleship in the New Age, Vol. II, Alice Bailey writes that in preparing the world for the Reappearance of the Christ, “the needs of the many grades in the social order must be met.” Therefore, she continues, “much of the work to be done...will be purely economic and will concern the right feeding and development of a true security for millions, who—for many lives—will not be interested in matters esoteric.”
What Alice Bailey’s words suggest is that there is a need for those on the Path to work not only on the higher planes of discipleship, but to take on the more mundane tasks of the material world. To do so responsibly, disciples must work with the denser energies in a conscious way—a way that lays the groundwork for the Reappearance.
What these words also suggest is that there is spiritual work of a material nature to take on regardless of one’s circumstance: We can all serve in the development of a true security for millions through the financial choices we make. Today’s discussion focuses on the role that the Will aspect of Love plays in meeting the world’s material needs.
