Gifts of “no-man’s land.”

The following remarks were broadcast in the Triangles Webinar on September 25, 2017

The full potency of this quality of balance pours in at this equinox time under the zodiacal influence of Libra, when day and night come together in perfect harmony.  This time should therefore encourage us to cultivate this quality in alignment with the group soul for the soul is ever in harmony with the rhythms of the natural world.  Cultivating balance aids us to build strength and consequently to deepen our spiritual alignment in preparation for the coming cycle, the cycle of testing.  When we cleave to the extremes we lose our balance and we can easily fall.  This is one of the lessons that Libra helps us learn.

But when we look around the world today we see little balance anywhere. Rather we see a world defined by cleavages between left and right, black and white, male and female, rich and poor, north and south.  Those who cultivate balance, such as Triangles workers, aid in creating an atmosphere wherein cleavages can subside and different points of view can emerge without being seen as threatening, knowing that the complexity of the times calls for elasticity in the approach to truth. The present period of polarisation has at its root the shifting nature of this time in relation to the ray and astrological influences as we move out of a sixth ray/Piscean dispensation and into an era ruled by the seventh ray/Aquarius.  These transitions naturally create division between those who cleave to the past and those who are forging into the future.  But curiously enough it’s said that at this time we should be experiencing a growing sense of balance within the world because of the dominance of Libra in the planetary horoscope, for Libra always governs the 500 year transition period between the ages.  As this influence waxes, it should foster the growth of Libran qualities in the world--qualities of relationship, balance, partnership, and love--acting as a bridge between the individual focus of Leo and the universal, group perspective of Aquarius.  And these Libran qualities are also said to be the keynotes of the Great Life ensouling our planet who breathes out relationship as that which he seeks to express on planet Earth.  As Triangles workers relationship also becomes our keynote, as we relate to our Triangles partners, the network as a whole, which includes the Hierarchy and Shamballa, aiding in one of our major tasks of fostering the primary planetary Triangle between Humanity, Hierarchy and Shamballa.

Libra is said to be the “master of no man’s land.” This is a rather strange phrase to consider. No man’s land is said to be an area that is unowned, uninhabited, or undesirable; a. disputed ground between the front lines or trenches of two opposing armies in a battle. It is the middle ground and it aids us in different ways depending upon the situation. But if we think of it in another way it is the place where magic can happen, where surprises occur because out of its seeming neutral space, owned by no one, the rules change and creativity can flourish.  In a way we might liken it to that gap within the inner bridge that needs to be forged by the seeker after truth and once this is accomplished a whole new realm of vision becomes possible.

Something about the energy governing this period of no man’s land induces us to pause from our normal activities, and to become alert to the possibility of something new and also to learn the lessons that this period of balance brings.  This time is symbolic of the sunset period, the time which governs the bridging period between day and night and also within the cycle of the year as we move from the bright cycle dominated by the sun and move towards the dark when the whole cosmos opens up.  In this cycle we are asked to become comfortable in the in-between spaces, which isn’t always natural to us. We need time to move into another mindset, to shift gears

This is the time, along with the dawn, when the Logos releases beauty and pours out music into the world in concert with the birds.   Perhaps more than anything, pondering upon the meaning of this daily ritual on the part of the Logos, can give us pause to understand in some small measure the majesty of this time. We who are intent on doing, are reminded that being releases beauty and we can be encouraged, along with the World Teacher, to take this moment, to witness the beauty of the colors in the sky at sunset, to pause to reflect and bless the world.  If we wish to, we can use the Gayatri.

We know that as workers in Triangles we have a role to play in bridging--by aligning ourselves with light and goodwill and through either a depth of feeling or a strength of will, releasing and  fostering the working out of the Plan.  As a bridging group we’re of the nature of Libra and we learn to seize and build within and across the no man’s land.  We support the Group of World Servers everywhere, in the difficult task chosen by their souls and we pour the light of the network through soul of this group as it toils in Pisces,

There is a rather famous and uplifting story of a no-man’s land experience that occurred during Christmas period in 1914, the first Christmas of World War I.  Pope Benedict called for a truce for this day and even though this idea was not officially sanctioned by the Allied and German governments it was adopted by the men fighting in the trenches.  In one story that emerged it was said that the Germans were said to have called out greetings of “Merry Christmas” in English.  Then they stepped forward into the no man’s land carrying small gifts and cigarettes for the British troops.  It was thought to be a trick but the British soon could see the Germans were not armed.  Then they began singing Christmas carols and their brass bands started playing.  At this point the British also entered this in-between territory and they played a game of soccer.

This was the only time during the war that this type of ceasefire occurred.  But after the war, in the moment of joy that accompanied that moment, British poet Siegfried Sassoon’s “Everyone Sang” captured the heart of the British nation.

Everyone suddenly burst out singing;
And I was filled with such delight
As prisoned birds must find in freedom,
Winging wildly across the white
Orchards and dark-green fields; on—on—and out of sight.

Everyone’s voice was suddenly lifted;
And beauty came like the setting sun;
My heart was shaken with tears; and horror
Drifted away…O, but Everyone
Was a bird;
And the song was wordless;
The singing will never be done.
