The Cycle of Conferences

Our guest speaker today, Freda Kemp, had the good fortune to attend the recent gathering of the Parliament of the World’s Religions that took place in Toronto, Canada last month, where she lives.  Such conferences taking place around the world are bringing together myriads of individuals and groups that are in touch with an aspect of the divine Plan and thereby serving a significant role in expanding human consciousness.  In the Bailey teachings these gatherings are viewed as linked with part of the preparatory work being undertaken in relation to the coming externalization of the spiritual Hierarchy of the planet.  Anyone who has been fortunate enough to attend such gatherings knows how much takes place, both behind-the-scenes, as well as within the public arena.  There is a co-mingling of auras that occurs, a coming together of like minds that  establishes an atmosphere in which ideas can be sparked and through which spiritual energy can flow.

The “Cycle of Conferences” initiative, sponsored by World Goodwill, is a subjective group that can play a vital role in supporting these outer events.   We who participate in this work come together behind-the-scenes to support and strengthen the thoughtform under consideration at the heart of the conference.  This concentration of focused thought brings an influx of living will energy into the heart of that thoughtform, thereby adding to its potency.  Such subjective work seeks to support and facilitate the subtle forces to work through the group gathered together on the physical plane.  This work is particularly effective at those conferences that have a spiritual or multi-faith agenda and that include moments for contemplation, prayer, meditation and silence as part of their program.  Then those who are working as part of the Cycles initiative, standing within the heart center of the group of world servers serve to strengthen the palpable spiritual undercurrent, increasing the transformative potential of the work being done.

This subjective participation prepares the ethers for inspirational opportunities through which new ideas can precipitate either through the speakers or through the participants themselves. Such an inspirational moment occurred at the first Parliament which took place in Chicago in 1893 when Swami Vivekananda took the stage and spoke for only 6 minutes. The impact of his words was such that he burst forth upon the world stage and was one of those teachers who was instrumental in merging east and west.

In the teachings of Alice Bailey there is a section in The Externalisation of the Hierarchy entitled “The Cycle of Conferences” which outlines the importance of all the many conferences that would increasingly be taking place throughout the world that would stand as vehicles for a release of the Shamballa force.

“Down the ages, individual statesmen and rulers have from time to time been responsive to the influence of that spiritually supreme Council; but it has been the responsiveness of the individual disciple who has worked alone and unaided and who has faced, (or experienced) defeat as often, if not oftener, than he has experienced victory. Today, in the planning now going forward in connection with the various international conferences and councils of which you all know, the spiritual effort (for the first time in human history) is to bring all of them, as functioning groups, under the direct impact of the energy which motivates and actuates that place where the Will of God is known and the purposes of divinity are defined and projected. This means that each of the coming world conferences (and there will necessarily be many) will have a greater and far more extensive effect than would otherwise be the case; it means, however, that the risks involved and the clash of minds will also be far greater.”  The Externalisation of the Hierarchy, pp. 446-47.
