Triangles of Goodwill

Triangles of Goodwill

Hello everyone. Today, I’d like to share a few thoughts on the energy of goodwill, particularly as it relates to our Triangles work.

As many of you know, the Triangles network is composed of two types of triangles: triangles of light and triangles of goodwill.  Most of us naturally work more easily with one or other of these energies. Though it is possible to work with both—and this is really our goal, for we are told that the Triangles of light must eventually be qualified by or become agents of goodwill. The question then arises: how exactly do we work with these two types energies? How do we distinguish them one from the other? And how can we ensure that both energies work together in right relationship?

Though it is true that “all is energy,” the type of energy work that we are engaged with in our Triangles practice is subjective in nature, meaning that it deals with the energies which lie behind and condition the manifested world. Talking about them only goes so far if one is not actively engaged in a daily practice. To truly know anything about these energies we must learn to perceive them and to interact with them ourselves.

All energy work is based on the occult truism that “energy follows thought.” This means that we must learn to think in such a way that our thoughts rather than environing conditions control our lives. When our power to think becomes strong enough that it can affect the emotional feeling nature, we are then able to assert the self-will which integrates and aligns the personality. And, when we are able to know ourselves as the thinker and observer of our lives, then the energy of the soul comes into play and the self-will is conditioned by the good, the true, and the beautiful. It becomes eventually the will-to-good.

To work effectively with these energies requires the cultivation of sensitivity and discrimination. Sensitivity to that which lies behind the outer form makes the mind a more adequate receptor and receiver of subtle energies. Discernment helps to distinguish that which is illusory from that which is true—it also helps to categorize the vibrations contacted, by their quality and by their spiritual potency. It is these two qualities (sensitivity and discernment) upon which right vision is built. Over time, our effort to register and identify the real, the beautiful, and the true gradually awakens the esoteric sense. This allows us to see the manifested world anew—because we see not just the form but the consciousness which conditions all forms. The ability to see and know deepens all of our subjective work, the Triangles practice included.

I should emphasize that this sort of inner sensitivity is not necessary to engage in the Triangles work, so if you are just starting out you should feel free to simply visualize your Triangle and sound the Great Invocation each day. You don’t need to distinguish between the two types of Triangles. Simply connecting with the network is enough to strengthen it and increase its reach.

The Tibetan tells us that the work of the people of goodwill all throughout the world is dependent upon the quality of the etheric network created by Triangles. He says that their work will be successful or non-successful “according to the intensity of purpose and depth of love demonstrated by the two groups of Triangles members.” It seems these two things—intensity of purpose and a deep love of humanity—are the real key to the right movement and circulation of energies, no matter which of the two you work with.

Purpose and love are both foundational to the energy of goodwill. Many people understand goodwill as the practical expression of love, or “love in action.” They sometimes forget that this energy originates in the mind and is deeply related to the Spiritual Hierarchy of our planet who work always from the mental plane  with the higher qualities of purpose and love. It is the intelligent thinking faculty of mind that enables us to link between the lower and the higher, and in a way it is this principle of mind that ensouls the bridge between the world of spiritual reality and the world of manifested phenomenon. It is only via the mind that the energy of goodwill—which is the energy of right relationship at is most essential level—can come into expression.

This is important to remember, because our Triangles work is mental work—and this mental nature is why it is so powerful. If it were limited only to the focalizing of etheric energy or in mustering up an intensity of feeling, it would not be transformational in its effects. Intensity of feeling is important, but goodwill must be backed by the will-to-good which is only possible via the mind. The mind and the will bring with them the power to transform consciousness on a worldwide scale. The will aspect literally determines results and brings the future into existence. The realm of human thinking is where humanity’s problems exist; only through that which conditions human thinking can these problems be solved.

Both the energies of light and goodwill are mental in nature. Light, however, is essentially substance and is more closely related to matter and to manifestation. Goodwill is more closely related to the spiritual Hierarchy, the heart center of our planetary life, and so is concerned with relationship.  Light illuminates forms at all levels. Goodwill creates right relationship between individuals, communities, and kingdoms in nature. Thus, we can see why goodwill is in essence a love that is deeply rooted in the soul, yet works out on the physical plane, not as phenomenon but as relationship.

The energy of goodwill facilitates relationship in two directions. Vertically, it connects the mind with the soul and the spiritual Hierarchy, horizontally it encourages right human relationships between all peoples of the world. When we consider both vertical and horizontal relationships, we see that light and goodwill are intertwined. Light illuminates the real and dispels that which is illusory and false, preparing the form for right relationship. Goodwill then can be cultivated between individuals and in the illumined environment. This demonstrates how the triangles of light are both vehicles for and agents of the triangles of goodwill.

Goodwill is an expression of the 1staspect of divinity. This makes sense when one considers three things: 1) that the Will of God is essentially Love; 2) that goodwill is a lower correspondence of the will-to-good; 3) that one of the qualities of the first ray is simplicity—and goodwill is very simple when rightly expressed.

Ultimately, the mind bridges the will and its expression. It bridges through the agency of the soul (the son of mind) and results in a positive act of alignment or unimpeded relationship. This will, in its highest correspondence as the Will of God, works out in seven ways: as the will-to-initiate, the will-to-unify, the will-to-evolve, the will-to-harmonize, the will-to-act, the will-to-cause, and the will-to-express. Underlying them all is the will-to-good which becomes goodwill when manifest in human relationships.

This will aspect requires the staying power of the group to effectively mediate it into expression. The Triangles network, a worldwide group, cultivates the will aspect of divinity because its members are united through intensity of purpose and selfless love for all without distinction.

In this way, we can see how the work of the men and women of goodwill throughout the world depends upon the subjective support of groups, like the Triangles network. It is these subjective groups that link goodwill to its source. The network acts as a channel through which the will of God (which is love) can be circulated and projected to humanity. This Will-which-is-love manifests as goodwill—or simply, right relationship—between individuals, between groups, between ideologies, and between humanity and God.                                              Michael Galloway
