The theme of the new moon meditations is strengthening the hands of the group of world servers.The meeting will include a brief talk, discusson and meditation with the goal of clarifying group thinking about the solution to major world problems.
Theme: Economics for a Living Earth
It must be recognized that one of the primary causes of all world unrest and war, and that which has created such widespread misery upon our planet, can be attributed largely to a powerful group of individuals with materialistic purposes who have for centuries exploited the masses and used human labor for their selfish ends. Increasing numbers of people today are envisioning a new economic structure wherein the resources of the planet are recognized as belonging to all. This recognition provides a framework and a plan whereby the planet’s wealth can be redirected from the hands of the few and used to meet the needs of the many.
Only one dominant concept can today save the world from a looming economic fight to the death, can prevent the uprising again of the materialistic systems of the past, can stop the re-emerging of the old ideas and concepts and can bring to an end the subtle control by the financial interests and the violent discontent of the masses. A belief in human unity must be endorsed. This unity must be grasped as something worth fighting and dying for; it must constitute the new foundation for all our political, religious and social reorganization and must provide the theme for our educational systems. Human unity, human understanding, human relationships, human fair play and the essential oneness of all men—these are the only concepts upon which to construct the new world, through which to abolish competition and to bring to an end the exploitation of one section of humanity by another and the hitherto unfair possession of the earth's wealth. As long as there are extremes of riches and poverty men are falling short of their high destiny. Problems of Humanity, p. 83

Let us together envision and discuss the emergence of a new and global economic structure in support of a Living Earth. What signs do you recognize in the world today that this structure is coming into being?
