Goodwill Song Launched in Darjeeling, India

Darjeeling Goodwill Center’s Facebook site carries this report of the main event for the tenth Darjeeling Goodwill Week:

"GOODWILL IS A POWER SPARKLING FROM THE HEART"

This is the Leitmotiv of the GOODWILL SONG, premiered at the opening of the Xth Goodwill Week on 10th Nov. at Capitol Hall, Darjeeling.
Heartfelt thanks and high appreciation to the composer and conductor Virgil Vihaan Sequeira, who created for this occasion the Goodwill Choir with 38 mainly local singers, leading them, the strings2019 orchestra and some local musicians through a two days workshop and rehearsals to the inauguration. Gratitude to all the musicians who participated in this creation with enthusiasm and dedication.
We equally thank World Goodwill, New York/London and Good News Agency, Italy, for sponsoring this project at an international level.

Watch the performance on YouTube , together with clips from the rehearsals. The lyrics are in English and Nepali, with the English text by Silvia Scali:

I heard the future calling, to build a better world
Of beauty and of freedom, where wisdom leads us all;
For this we want to work, together we can walk
On rays of love and sun to where all things are One.

(Chorus)

Goodwill is a Power
Sparkling from the heart
Connecting us together
To stay true friends forever.
Goodwill!

When obstacles seem high, Goodwill helps us try
To find the right solution, which leads to evolution.
Let’s open to diversity, demolishing the walls,
Commit to cooperation until division falls.

(Chorus)

Goodwill can make us strong to build a tree of strength
With branches of compassion, which spread in all directions;
With flowers of true beauty, that everyone will see;
With leaves of light and freedom where birds of joy can sing.

(Chorus)

There’s a shining thread embracing planet earth:
A ring of Light and Love, and Power from above;
Where the Great Ones stand and we can hold their hands
To reach our common goal of Peace and Good for all.

(Chorus)

Sadbhāvanā śakti hō
jō hr̥dayabāṭa camkancha
hāmīlā'ī ēkasātha jōṛacha
sadaiva sācō mitra banēra
Sadbhāvanā !

Darjeeling Goodwill Centre programmes are run by Himalayan Institute of Goodwill and Living Ethics (HIGLE) and the Centre is a joint project of HIGLE and the Darjeeling Goodwill Animal Shelter Trust. Regular events organized by the Centre are well attended by members of the service community in the district. They include regular art programmes for children (art is not taught in schools), courses training village herbalists in the processing and distribution of local herbal products, trainings in the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, and gatherings for local poets and writers.   Information on the wide array of programs can be found on the Facebook page.

Every year since 2008 a Darjeeling Goodwill Week has been observed, with events for primary and secondary school and College students as well as community discussion events, often involving local officials, and representatives of various charities and associations. A recent Facebook post reported:

Happy Birthday, Goodwill Centre!
Today we completed our Xth Goodwill Week, visioning solutions, projects and showcases for a more sustainable Darjeeling, with a wide participation of youngsters and more experienced citizens, new farmers and empowered and dedicated ladies...
Thank you all, old and new friends, together, with heart and intelligence, we are building the future!
