Imagining the Aquarian Christ - June 2019

For many people, the imagination is unreal, the realm of fantasy. But those with discerning wisdom know that the imagination is the seed of the future around which reality can materialise. The poet and artist, William Blake, knew this when he said that “God is the imagination”. So let us wisely use the gift of imagination to sow the seeds of humanity’s future spiritual unfoldment.

First let us recognise that our present time and the immediate future offer the possibility of the birth of the soul, the Christ within, in the hearts of millions of human beings around the world. It also offers the ideal environment of challenge and crisis that will precipitate this major event within the life of humanity. It will be the modern version of the timeless episode described in the Bhagavad Gita when Krishna announces: “Whenever there is a withering of the law and an uprising of lawlessness on all sides, then I manifest Myself.” The vivification of the Christ in the human heart is the redeeming and saving agency now. This is the first aspect of the manifestation of the Aquarian Christ. There is no ‘deus ex machina’ that will appear as a divine intervener to sort out our collective mistakes. We, Aquarian ensouled humanity, have to do it ourselves. We are all Christs in the making, and we are now called upon to prove it with divine imagination, with wisdom and with practical, radical love.

Once a significant proportion of humanity has started to manifest the soul in daily life, then perhaps we will be able to recognise the presence of that great individuality who appeared as the historical Christ, and who is now inspiring all who love humanity – indeed all expressions of life in the material worlds – with love and a new practical will-to-good. This will be the Christ now conditioned by – and also conditioning – the Aquarian age. Here we have to dare to imagine what this might mean. We can begin this exercise by knowing that the key feature of Aquarius is service. This is the practical demonstration of fulfilling the command that we love our neighbours as ourself. We do this because one of the first perceptions of reality, that comes when we realise that we are the Soul and not the personality, is that our neighbour IS ourself – the One Self that lives in each and all. There is no separation. All is One.

This inevitably gives rise to a universal compassion. The people who understand this reality are the ones who always tend to draw out the best in those with whom they come in contact. They are the natural healers of individual, national and international relationships, and, particularly at the present moment, are the regenerators of the natural world through healing humanity’s perception of it and helping to build a vitalising relationship with it that will serve all life forms on our planet for millennia to come.

So together let us help germinate the seeds of the new Aquarian vision. Let us encourage it to grow, inspire and co-evolve with the progressively enlightened humanity which will surely emerge as time goes by over the 2000-year long course of the Aquarian age.
