The Planetary Network - June 2018

The planetary network of light, love and service is transforming the mental climate of the planet, reorientating humanity to spiritual attitudes and values. The groups and activities reported in the Bulletin reflect different aspects of the network.

Triangles and World Goodwill Cultural Association

Founded in 1979, the mission of the Association is to support and spread the ideals of brotherhood, unity in diversity and responsibility for the common good through the introduction of new ethical and social values.

For a number of years, the Association worked in close co-operation with Triangles and World Goodwill, by translating, printing and distributing the Triangles Bulletins and World Goodwill Newsletters in Italian.

In June 2000, the Association launched a new editorial initiative, a free news bulletin, Good News Agency, to focus on creative and progressive initiatives in the world. The bulletin highlights news from the world of the United Nations, institutions, NGOs, service associations and volunteer groups. It is published in Italian, English and Portuguese and sent out to more than 10,000 media and editorial journalists of the daily newspapers and periodical magazines, as well as NGOs, high schools and Rotarians throughout the world. It is estimated the global distribution of the bulletin is well over 300,000 copies.

From time to time, interviews with visionary thinkers, such as Oscar Arias, Mikhail Gorbachev, Federico Mayor, Jacques Diouf, and Ervin Laszlo, are included in the bulletin.

In 2001, Good News Agency, launched the Ethical Code of the Media, that aims to focus on publishers’ responsibilities to voice “positive events which indicate in the world the response of humanity to the greatest problems of our time”. The code has been endorsed by 140 service organisations, prominent people, and several academic bodies and peace research institutes from around the world.

Some of the Codes are:

• It is the moral responsibility of the media to pursue the aim of disseminating information on every aspect of the reality in which we live.
• The media must disseminate information with respect and consideration for all the public.
• The information should be organized by distributing the “weight” of the different sectors so as to respect the right to knowledge of important social groups.
• The information must reflect reality with a variety of news which mirrors the components of reality itself to the extent to which they define it.
• The information must seek, as far as possible, the causes of the events in the determining behaviour of man.

A few years ago, the Association launched a campaign ‘Let’s take Good News Agency to the schools!’ Supported by many Rotary clubs, the campaign helps to involve students in focusing on positive and creative initiatives in the world.
