It is not easy for the disciple in training to associate the sense of synthesis and the use of the will together and to realise that a cultivation of this first ray perception is a potent mode by which the highest aspects of the spiritual will (as yet embryonic within him) can be unfolded.

Some lives are prisoners and know it. Others are prisoners and know it not. The clue to suffering lies right here in the realm of mind. The Will is fundamentally an expression of the Law of Sacrifice. Paradoxically we found that when the spiritual will was—even in a small measure—expressing itself, there was no such thing as sacrifice.

The symbolic activity of the great Teacher of Nazareth will be properly understood, and its significance will be properly appreciated only when group implications are more carefully studied, the meaning of sacrifice and of death come into their rightful place in the human consciousness, and the law of giving, with all that that entails, is correctly understood and applied.

You will already have noted—as you have studied the Invocation—that the three major centres in our planet are linked up: Shamballa, “where the Will of God is known,” the Hierarchy, where Christ rules and from whence He seeks closer contact among men, and the centre which we call Humanity. There is a close relation between the first stanza and the final one; humanity’s destiny is, as you know, to be the exponent of the mind of God, thus expressing active intelligence, motivated by love and implemented by will.

The root of the word ‘sacrifice’ is Sacer," to make holy, or to make whole.” George Bargilis discusses this aspect of the conference keynote in connection with his initiatives in holistic education. He is the Managing Director of the American Academy School in Limassol, Cyprus. The school is a multicultural community that educates children from kindergarten age up to university entrance. All children are involved in charity work with the emphasis of their education being placed on “Wisdom above all in a loving and caring environment for every child.”

The Rosy Cross and the Golden Bird: Wendy Berg

"Having pervaded the worlds with a fraction of Myself, I remain."  Such is the theme of the soul's endeavour, and such is the spirit which must underlie all creative work.  In this thought lies the clue to the symbol of the Law of Sacrifice—a rosy cross with a bird flying over it.  This is the loved cross (rose being the colour of affection), with the bird (symbol of the soul) flying free in time and space.

Dr. Shideh Pouria will present the reflections of three Persian students on the remarkable sacrifices of the protesters in Iran's most recent uprising. No longer accepting of authoritarianism, paternalism and religious intolerance, the collective will is demonstrating in a rising up and a giving of all for freedom, brotherhood, justice and a future with dignity for all.

The Right Concentration of Power: Pathways to Spiritual Governance – Swaan Barrett and Michael Brehme

What is the “Right Concentration of Power” that can fulfil the directive given in the Great Invocation: Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth?  Unmanaged globalization has resulted in too much power becoming concentrated in the realm of economics and finance. Does the spirit of cosmopolitan democracy indicate a path out of this towards a future “global governance of the people, by the people, for the people” – global governance without world government?  In 2021 a global citizen’s assembly was organised to coincide with the United Nations Climate Change Conference – the first body that can claim to democratically represent the “Will” of the global population.

Through her initiative Organic Strategies, Swaan Barrett provides coaching and consultation for Visionary Leaders and Value-based Cultures in Organizations. Michael Brehme is the Executive Chair of Typhoo Tea Ltd. As the co-founder of Clipper Teas, he worked in close collaboration with Fairtrade during its infancy to further the cause of right relationships with poorer workers.
