Standing at the Crossroads - September 2022
Just as humanity now stands at the proverbial crossroads, the crisis of choice and discrimination touches every individual at some level. Each phase of life offers decisions with both the practical and the spiritual challenges. So, we have all been confronted with the need to exercise the faculty of discernment, whether it is deciding on a career or the next step on the spiritual path. Having some form of contact with the Soul no doubt influences the values and the motivation that determine such choices. Do the spiritual aspects outweigh material well-being or vice versa? Is it the service of the individual or humanity that holds the greater sway? Such considerations illustrate the need for a refined sense of discrimination.
Refinement increases through differentiating between the individual’s personality and the Soul, and the more we understand their spheres of influence, the closer we will be to realizing the integration and fusion of both. Paradoxically, we first have to separate things and clearly define them as distinct entities before we can understand them as a synthetic whole. The lower or concrete mind separates and labels things, fixing descriptive associations, but finally finds its potential in the ability to discern wisely. This conscious recognition of everything that underlies the division is the prelude to wisdom.
It is the light of the Soul that illuminates and nourishes the innate ability of the lower mind until it flourishes as an instrument of wisdom. This organ of perception then enables the server to formulate, in concrete ways, the abstract ideas and ideals that the higher mind transmits. At this stage, the higher and the lower minds come together and form one light, allowing the higher to be reflected in the lower. Here the antechamber of true wisdom has already been entered.
Eventually Soul consciousness develops and the inner union of spirit and matter seeks expression through the personality. This manifests itself in the reorientation of the personality and a search for understanding. This response is a self-initiated process to precipitate the correct balance of conflicting forces in the microcosm. Projecting its vibration through all aspects of the personality, the Soul serves the evolutionary Plan by this act of redemption, raising manifestation to a higher level. As contact or fusion with the Soul increases, discernment manifests itself in successive degrees of subtlety. In this way we recognize the influence of different energies in our life and we can identify which of them come from our self-centered personality and which come from the Soul. Constantly irradiating the planetary consciousness with light and goodwill, the work of Triangles serves as a powerful lens helping humanity to discern the forces and energies that come into action at any given time.
