Whether an artistic work is large or small, we have seen that it is the manifestation of an idea moving from the inside out. Then, as we went along, a word came to mind, the word: ‘symbol’. For the human mind, a symbol expresses an idea. Through this webinar, the Triangle has shown us the extent to which it is involved in the composition of various symbols to intensify their evocative power. But ‘evocation’ goes hand in hand with ‘invocation’. It may therefore be appropriate at this point to recall a line from the Triangles meditation: “We identify ourselves as a Soul, as functioning between the three great planetary centres: Shamballa, Hierarchy and Humanity, as one great Triangle of Light.” Through this practice, we strive to go from the outside inwards, visualising the Triangle of the Soul and entering into union with it.

We will conclude this talk by presenting this passage from Alice Bailey's book From Intellect to Intuition:

“This is fundamentally the meaning of Patanjali when he uses the expression translated “spiritual reading.”  It really signifies reading with the eyes of the soul, with the inner vision alert to find out that which is sought.  It is realized that all forms are only symbols of an inner or spiritual reality, and spiritual reading involves the development of the faculty of "reading" or seeing the life aspect which the outer form veils and hides.  This will be found to apply equally to a human form as to any other form in nature; all forms veil a divine thought, idea, or truth and are the tangible manifestation of a divine concept.  When a man knows this, he begins to read spiritually, to see below the surface and so contact the idea which gave birth to the form."

From the above, we therefore see a close relationship between the Soul, the mind and the brain, which represent a fundamental Triangle enabling us to be guided by intuition and to understand that true art consists in seeing the perfection behind all created forms.

Triangles: An Hierarchical Activity

To work effectively in Triangles each of us has to do the daily work of strengthening contact with our own soul. Through this means we aid in establishing those conditions within consciousness which let in the light.  Then, through that light our minds begin to open to greater light and a deepened understanding grows as does the ability to let that light shine forth to point the way and clear the path for others. Moving away from fear we can give people this powerful tool, offering them the opportunity to help quell the troubled waters and the raging fires rather than being subsumed by them.

Rhythm and ritual go hand in hand, ritual is always rhythmic and measured. Any rhythmic activity can be characterized as ritual as long as the ritual is being performed with a clear sense of the sacred. When the goal is to raise one’s vibratory rate, the ritual becomes a magical high tuning to the divine. Deliberate ritual is a group activity and provides protection. Ancient writings speak about rituals involving rhythmic movements of the body that create various geometrical shapes, of the rhythmic swaying of bodies and arms designed to harness cosmic currents. The ritual spinning of Whirling Dervishes is one beautiful example of modern day rituals involving a devotional activity and a sense of the sacred. On a more mundane level, the rituals of weddings, funerals, graduations, births, deaths and so on, are familiar to all as group activities which hold deeper meanings.

Another everyday concept is love. But not love as we have likely been taught. Sentiment has its place, but if we are talking about the kind of love utilized by our soul, we must take the concept out of its human sheath and approach the needy world in a new way. Alice Bailey, in one of her lectures on the myth of Hercules, put it like this, starting with the well-known words of the Christ: A new commandment I give you, that you must love one another. “This is no sentiment… let us be loving and kind. That is just decent behavior! The love that the Christ enunciated is an intelligent understanding and appreciation of the need of the individual, just as you find him.” The words just as you find him need to take hold of us as we pursue the path of our soul. It’s not our need to save or love that should be our focus, but the need of the individuals we engage with.
