Sydney Goodwill

Sydney Goodwill, based in Sydney Australia, is one of many units of service throughout the world affiliated with World Goodwill and inspired by a shared vision of a future based on spiritual values and principles. As with each unit, it is autonomous and chooses its particular form of service.

Fundamental to Sydney Goodwill’s service are the meditation meetings conducted at the time of the monthly Solar Festivals and hosted online with participants joining from around the world, as we realise our interconnection within a vaster world service group.

Our website (https://sydneygoodwill.org.au/) is our main communication tool which expresses our note through its written, audio-visual material. It provides the content for a monthly electronic newsletter offering access to the wisdom teachings and the light they shine on the path into spiritual being.  The newsletter contains commentary on the evolutionary influences behind the current human experience, as well as notices of public meetings and key spiritual events.

We maintain a light-filled office where visitors are always welcome. It houses a library of books on the Ageless Wisdom and esoteric literature.

The history of Sydney Goodwill began in 1979 when a small group decided to make available the books of the Tibetan Master and Alice A Bailey by establishing a not-for-profit organisation to import and wholesale to Australian bookshops. They also reprinted and posted the World Goodwill Newsletter and related publications to Australian subscribers.  A few years earlier the Caringbah Unit of Service had formed, meeting weekly to meditate and experiment with a new group consciousness. Working under impression and using the intuition, the group explored inner dimensions of the Life behind all outer form and its unfoldment through living realisation.

These two units of service eventually came together as the two aspects of the one entity. Sydney Goodwill had grown and needed more volunteers, and the Caringbah Unit of Service had come to a point where an outer form was needed through which to practise the emerging new consciousness.

Today, the physical book distribution operation has given way to the world of the internet where books are available through online booksellers and the full text can be browsed through a computer window. This shift is illustrative of humanity’s recognition of our planetary interconnectivity and growing realisation of the Oneness of all Life.  Sydney Goodwill serves simultaneously globally and locally as we work in cooperation with other units of service within Australia and New Zealand.

Throughout the years the work has been joyfully sustained by a team of dedicated volunteers, and generously supported by the flow of financial donations which ensure that every true need is met. The practice of spiritual principles in the running of external operations offers many inspiring experiences. Sydney Goodwill is a living experiment of working with trust and in service.
