The need to explain ideas and meanings which our daily language fails to convey is an ancient problem. Certain truths and secrets were preserved in stories, apparently very simple, but with deeply symbolic content, and that was for two reasons: first, the need to protect that knowledge from those alien to a certain circle of students, the unprepared, so to say; but mainly, because their meaning was of such a nature, that it could not be expressed by normal language. Thus great sages used stories, fables, allegories which were meant to hide some deep truths which could only be understood by a developed intuition, or with the possession of certain keys.

Cleansing the emotional body is really creating mental polarization, and transforming it and adjusting it from this upwards direction. If the Soul is absent, no effective cleansing of the emotional body is possible. It is the Soul impressions entering the mind that allow mental polarization to develop, but there is also something else: we need a certain amount of mental discipline - thinking. Detachment, dispassion and discrimination, the three Ds, play a very important role here. Let me try to give practical definitions of these three Ds, the way I understand them.

Values are those magnetic visions that challenge human beings to climb toward a life more abundant, on higher and higher planes, in ever-expanding relationships.

Values are standards of achievements. Values are steps leading to enlightenment, joy, prosperity, freedom, unity.

Right attitude to values creates progressive changes in the seven departments of human endeavor: politics, education, philosophy and communication, art, science, religion, economics, and finance. Wrong response to values increases the suffering of the world. Values are pro-survival factors. They bring us success and victory.

As individuals change their lives through the power of values nations will change; humanity will change; and the transformation of the planet will be a fulfilled fact.
